The Butler Township Planning Commission has given approval to a plan that would move the location of the Kentucky Fried Chicken on New Castle Road a little further down the road.
Representatives for the developer for the project returned to the commission on Tuesday night to discuss their plans for 218 New Castle Road after first presenting their proposal a couple months ago.
Since then, architects and planners have worked with township engineers and zoning officials to address concerns. The new, 2,600 square foot restaurant- with a drive-through- is planned for what is now a vacant lot next to Wendy’s.
The plan will now go before the township commissioners for final approval later this month. If received, construction is anticipated to begin in March with an opening planned for June. The lease is up on the current KFC and that building is likely to be demolished.
