DCNR presents A “Sustainable Backyard” Workshop

March 3, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 12:30 pm

Spend a morning learning how you can care for your “Piece of Nature.” With the increased prevalence of development and urban sprawl, learn how you can transform your property into a refuge for native birds, pollinators, and wildlife. Experts will be on hand to inform and answer questions along with an assortment of vendors that can help you to bring your vision to life.

Topics Include:
•Controlling Invasive Plants, Why and How – Dave Jackson, PSU Extension
•Bringing Birds To Your Backyard (Beautiful photos!) – Laura Jackson
•Identifying and Appreciating Wildflowers – Will Taylor, Jennings Environmental Center
•Keynote Speaker: The Importance of Your Piece of the Puzzle – Dr. Rebecca Thomas, Slippery Rock University

The workshop is free and opened to the public, but registration is required. Go to https://yourpieceofnature.eventbrite.com or call the Forbes State Forest District Office at 724-238-1200 for more information.
