Police have released more details about the collision between a bicycle and a state police car that injured a 12-year-old girl Thursday morning in Cranberry Township.
According to State Police, the girl was riding her brother’s bike in the 100 block of Bayberry Lane about 9:30 a.m. when she lost control. Bayberry Lane is a residential street off Glen Eden Road.
The girl hit the police car which was heading in the opposite direction and told police that the front brake was not working on the bike, according to police.
The girl was wearing a helmet but still was taken to Children’s Hospital for further treatment of moderate injuries.
Sergeant Chuck Mascellino of the Cranberry Township Police Department said state police will be handling the investigation but Cranberry Township Police will also perform an independent review.
