The developer considering a purchase of the Penn Theater and surrounding property is no longer moving ahead with the project.
In a letter, the Senior Vice President of the WODA group informs the city that the cost of acquiring the entire block along with site elevation design issues make the development “uneconomical”.
The WODA group was considering a 40 to 50 unit apartment building with dedicated parking for the site that includes the former Worsley property.
The letter goes on to say that the WODA group continues to explore development opportunities in the Butler area. WODA previously considered a plan to refurbish the former Pullman building into apartments but failed to secure grant funding from the state.
