Florence E. Yost, 94, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 29, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Hospice, Concordia, Cabot.
She was born November 2, 1923 in Butler to the late Jesse Floyd Wolfe and Annie Margaret Beilstein Wolfe.
Mrs. Yost was a 1942 graduate of Butler Area High School. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. Florence was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served as a Primary Sunday School Teacher for many years, and served in many of the St. Mark’s various organizations She also worked with the Butler Meals on Wheels delivering food for over 25 years. She loved to square dance, play cards and travel.
She is survived by her two daughters, Judy D. Diamond of Zanesville, OH, and Janice M. (Robert K.) Hutchison of Butler, PA; son, Paul W. (Jennifer Karenbauer and Daniel) Yost of Butler, PA; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Helen I. Taggart of Slippery Rock, PA, and Ruth O. McCoy of Salem, OH; and one brother-in-law, Marlin D. Sarvey of Prospect, PA. Florence is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many extended family members.
In addition to her parents Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton William Yost, whom she married on September 27, 1942; sister, Myrtle I. Sarvey; and a son-in-law, Ed Diamond.
Friends will be received on Thursday, November 1, 2018, from 6 to 9 PM at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA. Additional Viewing will be from 11 to the time of the funeral service at Noon on Friday, November 2, 2018 with Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.
Private Burial will take place in the Gruenwald Cemetery.
