James Frederick “Fred” Mackey, 93 of West Liberty Boro passed away at Grove Manor Nursing Home in Grove City on Monday, June 12, 2017 following an extended illness. He was born in Euclid, PA, Butler County, on October 27, 1923 to Frank Mackey and Mary Elizabeth Badger Mackey. He married Ina Genevieve Boyd on September 23, 1949. Fred was a self-employed farmer and US Army Veteran. In World War II he was awarded the ETO Campaign ribbon with five Bronze Battle Stars and Good Conduct ribbon. He served in Battles and Campaigns at Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe, Normandy and Northern France.
Survivors include his wife Ina at the residence; two sisters, Myrtle Shirey of Parker, PA and Anna Mae and husband, Jon Richards of Slippery Rock. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Caroline Cooper, two brothers, Albert and an infant brother, David. Services were private followed by burial at West Liberty Cemetery, West Liberty Boro, Butler County, PA.
