A man was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital on Wednesday morning after he got his hand stuck in a cement mixer.
The accident happened about 9 a.m. at Semper Concrete on Route 422 in Mount Chestnut, according to Propsect Volunteer Fire Chief Ken Wilson.
“I’m not sure how he did it, but he got his hand caught in the mixture,” Wilson said. “His hand was ripped off, slightly above the wrist.”
Wilson happened to be at the business when the accident happened. He called for help, including a medical helicopter. But, due to weather, there were no helicopters available to fly.
The man was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh by ambulance.
Wilson didn’t know if OSHA would be investigating.
