Traffic on Route 19 in southern Butler County is flowing this morning after an accident Tuesday closed a portion of it for over seven hours.
Turnpike officials say a tractor-trailer carrying an oversized load on Route 19 struck a bridge that carries the turnpike over the road. The load got wedged in…and then fell on top of a car. There were no serious injuries.
However as a result, the turnpike was closed in both directions between the Butler Valley Interchange and Cranberry.
The bridge was inspected to ensure it wasn’t compromised structurally and reopened before noon.
A portion of Route 19 was closed between the Route 228/Freedom Road intersection in Cranberry Township to Warrendale Bayne Road in Marshall Township, Allegheny County.
