Slippery Rock University has begun work on two significant construction projects.
The first is a $6.5 million renovation to the Strain Behavioral Sciences Building. The building will be closed from July 15th through July of 2018 to allow for the inclusion of state of the art classroom and lab space for the Safety Management Department, an interactive television classroom, a student art gallery, and a new ROTC lounge area. Existing classrooms, labs, and offices will be relocated to several other buildings around campus.
The second project is a $4 million improvement project at the Bailey Library. This project began last Monday and will see the addition of a computer lab and study space as well as a redesigned entryway and expanded café. This project is anticipated to be completed by this December and most sections of the library will remain open throughout the process.
A variety of other energy saving, water conservation, air conditioning, and walkway improvements are also planned for the summer. Renovations to Miller Auditorium, West Gym and East Hall will begin during the fall semester.
