An Allegheny County teenager was hurt Wednesday in a fall at McConnells Mill State Park.
Assistant Park Manager Bryan Flores said the fall happened about 3 p.m. at the Kildoo Falls, which is just up from the mill itself.
“A group of three teens were hiking and enjoying the falls,” Flores said. “Unfortunately, one of the teens got a little too close to the edge of one of the falls and fell about 25 feet.”
The victim’s friends saw the fall and called for help using one of the park’s emergency phones.
EMS crews, firefighters and park staff worked together to stabilize the teen and get him up to safety.
“We pulled him up with a pulley system,” Flores said.
Flores says the teen was conscious and alert. He was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital.
