A third suspect has been charged in connection with the apparent murder of a Butler mother and more arrests could be coming.
“The investigation is ongoing,” Butler County District Attorney Rich Goldinger said. “We want to make sure we get the complete story.”
State Police charged 21-year-old Joshua Bowser of Lyndora Tuesday with obstructing justice, tampering with evidence and criminal conspiracy to commit abuse of a corpse.
Bowser allegedly loaned his vehicle to two others with the knowledge that it would be used to transport and dispose of Melissa Barto’s body.
Bowser joins primary murder suspect Ishemer Ramsey and friend James Howard-George in jail.
The DA will now wait to see how the investigation plays out to decide if prosecutors will seek the death penalty against Ramsey.
“It’s pretty early to make that determination,” he said Tuesday. “We’ll look at everything and make that decision at the appropriate time.”
Police allege Barto was shot and killed late last week by Ramsey during an argument. A body, which police believe is hers, was found Monday night in Lawrence County.
