A water main break has caused a big mess Monday at a Butler City intersection.
Pennsylvania American Water crews were seen working Monday afternoon at the intersection of East Locust and North Elm streets, near Butler Catholic School.
Pa. American Water Spokesman Gary Lobaugh said the break occurred on a 10-inch cast iron main that was constructed in the early 1950s.
“Nearby residents lost water for about an hour this morning but service has since been restored,” Lobaugh told the Butler Radio Network.
Lobaugh said once the line was dug up, it was determined that more pipe needed replaced than originally anticipated so a revised estimate for the completion of repairs is 8 p.m.
