The Butler County Community College men’s basketball team defeated Prince George Community College 99-88 Sunday to win their first Region 20 championship in 21 years. Kevaughn Price led the Pioneers with 28 points. Derrick Anderson added 24 points. Jason Baker had 21 points in the game, all scored in the second half. BC3 improved to 20-3 this season and advances into the Mid-Atlantic tournament this Saturday in Pinehurst, North Carolina. The Pioneers will meet Sandhills, the Region 10 champion, who are 27-3 this season.
The BC3 women fell to Prince George 60-58 in the Region 20 game Sunday. The Lady Pioneers finished their season at 19-6 overall, and their best record since 2009 under first-year head coach Lydia Roth.
