High School Sports:
The Butler boys Indoor track and field team took four first place finishes Saturday in Edinboro. The distance mile relay team ran fastest time in Pennsylvania this season with their victory. The Butler girls took a runner-up finish and two third place finishes at the meet. The teams travel to the Spire Showcase in Geneva, Ohio this Sunday.
Both the Butler and Knoch boys basketball teams lost close games Friday night.
–Butler blew a 20-point lead and fell 61-56 to Seneca Valley. The Raiders improved to 6-12, while Butler fell to 14-3 and slipped out of a first-place tie with Central Catholic. Butler will host New Castle Tuesday.
–Knoch battled back from a double-digit deficit in the first two quarters to briefly lead in the second half, but fell 61-55 to Freeport. The Knights travel to Greensburg Salem Tuesday.
The Butler girls basketball team defeated Plum 63-48 Saturday. Amelia McMichael led the Golden Tornado with 22 points.
The Mars boys fell 56-45 to Allderdice Sunday.
