The Butler teams broke two records at the Tri-State Track Coaches Association championships at West Mifflin high school Saturday.
Butler’s Megan Baggetta broke a 19-year old meet record with a leap of 38-feet 7-1/2 inches to win the Triple Jump. She broke a mark set in 2004 by Sheena Gordon of McDowell high school. Bagetta also placed sixth in the Long Jump. Grace Nichols was runner-up in the High Jump. Ava Brewster was third in the 3,200 meter run. The Golden Tornado’s 4×400 Relay team finished fourth.
The Golden Tornado’s Luke Campbell broke a Butler school record in the Long Jump with a leap of 23-feet, 6-1/2 inches. That broke the mark set by Calvin Littlejohn set in 2003 by three and a half inches. Ryan Porch was the runner-up, finishing with a jump of 23-feet 5-1/4 inches, which also broke Littlejohn’s school record until Campbell re-set the mark.
The boys 4×400 relay team also took a first place.
Calvin Littlejohn’s son Braylon took third in the High Jump.
