High School Sports:
WPIAL Girls Soccer Quarterfinals:
–Freeport defeated Hopewell 2-1. Sidney Shemanski and Akina Boynton scored the Yellow Jackets goals. Maddy Zarichnak had 11 saves in goal for Freeport who will meet Yough in the 2A semifinals Monday.
–Seneca Valley defeated Moon 1-0. The Raiders, who are the defending 3A WPIAL champions, will meet Norwin Monday.
–Butler fell to Peters Township 5-0.
–Mars defeated Thomas Jefferson 7-0 to improve to 16-0-1. The Planets, who were the WPIAL 3A runner-up last season, have had six consecutive shutouts and have outscored their opponents 14-0 in the playoffs. Mars will face Belle Vernon Monday.
–North Catholic defeated Brownsville 2-1. They will face South Park Monday.
WPIAL Cross Country Championships:
–The Knoch Girls were third overall in the 2A final and will advance to the state tournament in Hershey. Sammy Jo Barnes earned a WPIAL medal with a fifth-place finish overall in a time of 20:27.
–Seneca Valley was runner-up to the North Allegheny Girls in 3A. Butler finished fifth.
–The Butler Boys were runner-up to North Allegheny in 3A. Butler’s CJ Singleton finished fifth overall. Sage Vavro was seventh. Seneca Valley was third overall. The Raiders Noah Petersen finished eighth. Each team will advance to the PIAA tournament. Zach Leachman of Mars finished third overall individually.
The Knoch Girls Tennis team will face Moravian Academy today in the PIAA 2A quarterfinals. The match begins at 5pm at the Hershey Racquet Club.
WPIAL Girls Volleyball 2A First Round:
–Freeport defeated South Park 3-0. The Yellow Jackets will meet Hopewell Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
–North Catholic defeated Burrell 3-0. They will meet Ellwood City Tuesday.
Hockey:
–Freeport fell to South Park 4-2. Cole Mitchell and Nico DiSanti scored the goals for the Yellow Jackets.

–Seneca Valley will face Mt. Lebanon at Moon high school at 4pm.
