High School Sports:
The Karns City Boys Track and Field team clinched the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference title and completed an undefeated regular season following a 122-1/2 to 27-1/2 win over North Clarion. The Gremlins won 15 of the 18 events in the meet.
Baseball:
–Mars locked up a section title following a 6-2 win over Hampton. The Planets went 11-1 in Class 5A Section-2 this season. They are 14-4 overall.
–Butler-11 Knoch-1.
–North Catholic-5 South Park-4.
–Slippery Rock-18 Freeport-5.
–Moniteau-9 North Clarion-8. Brock Matthews had a walk-off single to lead the Warriors to the victory. It was one of three hits he had in the game.
–Karns City-8 Oil City-1. Cole Sherwin allowed just four hits and the lone run over six innings from the mound for the Gremlins. He added two hits and scored a pair of Karns City runs.
–Clarion-7 AC Valley/Union-3.
Boys Lacrosse:
–Mars completed a 16-0 regular season after defeating Moon 20-6.
Boys Volleyball:
–Seneca Valley defeated North Allegheny 3-1 ending the Tigers 75-match winning streak. Both teams are now 10-1 and tied for first place in Class 3A Section-2.
Softball:
–Freeport-11 St. Joe’s-0. Sydney Selker and Autumn Powell combined on a five-inning no-hitter for the Yellow Jackets. Selker struck out seven batters in her three innings. Powell struck out five in two innings.
–Knoch-9 Greensburg Salem-0.
–Slippery Rock-7 Titusville-6. Samantha Meredith went 4-for-4 with two Runs Batted In – to lead the Rockets. Slippery Rock came back to win the game in the bottom of the seventh inning with two runs after Titusville took a 6-5 lead in the top of the inning.
–Jamestown-8 Grove City-7.
