The NFL released its schedule for 2020 last night – and it will find the Pittsburgh Steelers beginning their regular season on the road for the six straight year, but it will be on a Monday night.
The league is anticipating it will play its season in the normal time frame despite the coronavirus pandemic. However, commissioner Roger Goodell told teams this week that adjustments to the schedule will be made if necessary. The regular season will open on Thursday, September 10th, with the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Houston Texans.
The Steelers visit the New York Giants for Monday Night Football on September 14th. They will play other prime time games, including a home game against AFC North rival Baltimore Thanksgiving night. The Steelers will visit Buffalo for a Sunday night game and Cincinnati for another Monday Night game, both in December.
The Steelers will host Denver and Houston in the first two home games of the season at Heinz Field. They will complete their season in Cleveland January 3rd.
The Steelers will also play five pre-season games – including the Hall of Fame game August 6th against the Dallas Cowboys. They will also play Dallas on the road in the regular season.
Meanwhile the Canadian Football League commissioner Randy Ambrosie said this week he believes the most likely scenario will be to cancel their season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
