The Edmonton Oilers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 7-2 last night at PPG Paints Arena. After the Oilers took a 2-1 lead in the first period, they scored four unanswered goals in the second period which forced the Pens to pull starting goaltender Tristan Jarry from a game for the first time this season.
Edmonton scored on two of three power plays in the game. The NHL’s leading scorer, Connor McDavid, scored twice in the game, including on a penalty shot in the third period against goaltender Casey DeSmith.
The Pens have now lost five of their last six games, and have fallen to tenth overall in the Eastern Conference. They have 25 games remaining, but are in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
The Pens visit St. Louis Saturday afternoon for a 3:30pm face-off. Pre-game on WISR begins at 3pm.
The Pens will return home to host Tampa Bay Sunday at 6pm. WISR pre-game begins at 5:30pm.
