The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette released its high school baseball and softball All-Area teams over the weekend. Seneca Valley’s Lexie Hames was named the softball Player of the Year. The Raiders sophomore struck out 269 batters in 129 innings. She also batted .343 for the Raiders, who lost to Hempfield in the WPIAL championship.
Butler’s Madden Clement was named as one of the four players to the Post-Gazette’s All-Area team. Clement rebounded from a broken ankle during the high school basketball season to go 3-1 with a 1.32 ERA. He struck out 36 batters in 26 innings. Clement had a 15-2 record in high school. He will continue his baseball career at Virginia Tech.
