WPIAL Basketball Playoffs:
–The Butler Boys survived a double-overtime thriller Saturday with a 78-76 victory over Peters Township in the 6A quarterfinals. Ethan Morton led the Golden Tornado to victory with a 32-point and 18-rebound afternoon. Morton hit a game-tying shot at the buzzer in the first overtime to give Butler the chance for victory.
The Golden Tornado will meet Upper St. Clair in the semifinals Wednesday. The game will be played at Robert Morris University beginning at 8pm. Hear the game on WBUT 1050am.
With Saturday’s win, Butler has also qualified for the PIAA tournament.
–Mt. Lebanon and Central Catholic will be the other 6A semifinal. They also play Wednesday at Robert Morris beginning at 6:30pm.
–The Knoch Knights WPIAL run was ended by New Castle following a 56-50 win for the Red Hurricanes. The three-time defending champions have reached the semifinals for the 10th year in a row. The Knights will need to root for the Red Hurricanes to win the WPIAL title to aid their effort in reaching the PIAA tournament.

–The North Catholic Girls facec Blackhawk in the 4A semifinals at North Hills high school at 6:15pm.
–The North Catholic Boys will meet South Allegheny at North Hills high school at 8pm in the 3A semifinals.
The Mars Boys will meet Chartiers Valley in the 5A semifinals Tuesday at 8pm at Moon high school.
