150-Year Church Stained Glass Window Tour

June 20, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

A Saxonburg church celebrating its 150th year invites the public to see its stained glass windows and historic organ on June 20 during the Mingle on Main event in Saxonburg.

Tours will be conducted at 6 pm and 7 pm at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, located at Main and State streets. Windows were given as inspiration by various families and church groups in 1947. Pastor Roger Keller will conduct the tours and explain the gospel stories on the windows, dedicated to well-known Saxonburg names such as Bachman, Knoch, Cooper, Freehling and Bicker.

The two-manual Moller pipe organ was dedicated in April 1929. The organ was funded by Ferdinand Roebling in memory of his father, John Roebling. The organ, rebuilt in 1977, has pipes measuring in length from three inches to 16 feet. The public will be invited to come up to the choir loft and see the organ up close. The church will be open from 5 to 8 pm during the Mingle on Main, in addition to a sneak peek preview of the annual rummage sale at Centennial Hall.
