Media Consultant

Spring Internship – Technical

The Butler Radio Network invites applications from current students for a Spring internship
funded through the NAB – Spring PILOT /NABLF Technology Internship Grant. The 11-week paid
internship will focus on technology and broadcast engineering, and require the intern to work a 20-hour
week, possibly including evenings and weekends.The successful intern will work with the station’s Operations Manager in all areas of broadcast
operations and engineering including : the monitoring and implementation of all FCC regulations and
requirements, monitoring of station operations and transmitter facilities, planned repairs or
installations, any projects involving technical enhancements and upgrades, managing computer network
operations and computer issue resolutions, assisting with remote broadcast operations, and basic
broadcast facility maintenance.
Intern will be trained in all station studio operations just as a regular staff member and will be
able to operate any on-air equipment – just as any board operator would be required to do. Intern will
also interact with all facets of the broadcast facility including programming, news gathering, sales, and

FM, located in Butler, Pennsylvania. The network also maintains a number of digital products and
publishes a daily news sheet for the community. The company, locally owned and managed, consists of
14 full-time and a number of part-time staff members.
