Butler Ghost Walk

Take a ghostly stroll down Butler’s Historic Main Street by making reservations for the Butler Ghost Walk! The extremely popular event will take place on Fridays October 19th, 26th and Saturdays October 20th, 27^th @ 7:30 p.m. beginning in Butler’s Diamond Park located directly across from the Butler County Courthouse. The Butler Ghost Walk makes for a great activity for groups of friends, families and co-workers!

Reservations are required and can be made by phone (724-256-9026) or by visiting ButlerGhostWalk.com. Cost is $15 per person.

The Butler Ghost Walk was named “One of the Top 10 Things to Do in October” by Pittsburgh Magazine and has sold out the past five years! The Butler Ghost Walk takes spectators of all ages on a guided walking tour of Diamond Park and the adjacent Historic Main Street business district. Participants will experience the ghosts from Butler’s historic past through master story teller and tour guide Bill May’s stories of the ghosts of Sam Mohawk, Ghosts of the Old Hospital, The Haunted Elevator, The Chinese Laundry Murder, The Phantom Civil War Regiment, The Girl Who Heard the Angels Sing, and see a photo of the Ghost of the Penn Theater.

Tour guide Bill May says “I have collected and researched these tales over several decades and people love that I include specific names, dates and the story behind each ghostly encounter!” May continues, “Not only are the ghost stories very entertaining, but the participants also learn a great deal about the fascinating history of Butler!”

May’s favorite story is the “Phantom Civil War Regiment” because it is the story he personally experienced. “A gentleman came up to me in Pittsburgh after a Civil War talk I had given and ask me if I could validate a ghostly experience his grandfather had when he worked in a bank on Main Street during the 1920’s. When I told him what his grandfather saw had actually occurred in 1864 directly outside his grandfather’s window, his face turned white because he knew his grandfather’s story was true!”
