It is Read Across America Week- and several local schools and libraries have planned events.
The Butler Area Public Library will hold a Dr. Seuss Party for Monday at 6 p.m. in the Basement Meeting room. Families with kids of all ages are invited to enjoy stories, crafts, and activities inspired by this author of many kids favorites. Registration is required.
Students at Mars Area Elementary School will participate by reading books connected to a theme for each day of the week. For example, Monday is Sleep Book Day and kids can wear pajamas to school. Tuesday is “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” Day with activities based on the Dr. Seuss classic; students are invited to wear their favorite color or number on that day.
Finally, Butler Radio’s own Tyler Friel will be reading to second grade students at Connoquenessing Elementary Monday afternoon. Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child to celebrate reading.
