One person is in jail and another in the hospital following an alleged knife fight that happened just west of Butler County.
State Police say the defendant and the victim in this case are friends but they are also both suspects in a recent theft, which police believe was the motive behind Wednesday’s stabbing.
The alleged incident happened about 1 a.m. Wednesday just over the Butler County line in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.
According to court documents, 22-year-olds Joshua Kline of New Castle and Kalin Snyder of Slippery Rock Township are suspects in an alleged $2,200 theft which happened on St. Patrick’s Day. The two were apparently meeting to discuss that matter because one of the men was scheduled to appear at the State Police Mercer barracks that day for an interview when Synder is accused of pulling a 7-inch hunting knife and stabbing Kline in the neck.
What happened next is bizarre as police say Synder then “insisted on taking the victim to the hospital,” according to police.
Snyder is now facing attempted homicide and assault charges and is being held in the Lawrence County Jail.
