We’re now into the period of time known as the “100 Deadliest Days” for teen drivers.
AAA spokesperson Jana Tidwell says it’s between Memorial and Labor Day when the number of fatal crashes involving teens historically rises.
“The top three major factors that contribute to fatal teen driving crashes during the summer months are speeding, drinking and driving, and distraction,” Tidwell said.
AAA urges parents of teen drivers to set a good example when they drive, and to talk to them about the importance of being safe behind the wheel. Some parents may want to enroll their teens into courses similar to those held by this california dmv traffic school which can help teenagers understand road safety and be safe while driving. In addition to traffic school, parents may also want to look into high risk insurance policies from their insurance company.
Between 2013 and 2017, there were nearly 32,000 crashes involving 16 and 17-year-old drivers in Pennsylvania.
