Pennsylvania is receiving new funding that will go toward expanding broadband internet service.
Officials estimate that $200 million in federal funds will connect 44,000 locations across the state to high-speed internet. Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey says this money will especially help rural parts of the state.
“For small towns and rural areas more broadly, we need to make sure that every child has access to the internet. And every business, and every farm,” Casey said.
The latest study by the FCC found that 2.6 million state residents lack access to high-speed internet.
