Thanks to federal funding from the Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Grant Program, Pennsylvania will receive millions in funding.
United States Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding, and Governor Josh Shapiro were all at the Pennsylvania Farm Show to announce the $26 million in federal funding.
But not only was this an announcement for investment in agriculture in Pennsylvania, Shapiro also announced that in the coming weeks he will announce a new economic plan for Pennsylvania and agriculture will be a key part of it.
“Agriculture is going to be one of the four pillars of opportunity in the Commonwealth,” Shapiro said. “We are betting on ag for the future prosperity in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”
Grant applications open on January 15 and will close on March 30.
