Bradford Mooney, 76, of Worthington passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on February 18, 1945 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Donald and Margaret (Savage) Mooney. Bradford was an Eagle Scout in his early life before he graduated from East Aurora High School in New York in 1964. In 1972 he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University. He had a love for the outdoors with hunting and fishing being life-long pursuits. His company, Heritage Restorations, restored over 150 log structures, including the cabin at the Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh. By far, his biggest professional accomplishment is bringing Fort Ligonier back to life. Using historical records, he transformed the fort to truly reflect it’s history and legacy in early American history. In addition to his success as a historical restorator, he served for over a decade as a Waterway’s Conservation Officer with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. He was an avid bowler in the Ligonier Valley Men’s Bowling League, winning several trophies and sponsoring the league when he could no longer play. He is survived by his wife Deborah (Guch) Mooney, and three children Drew, Aubin, and Emily, as well as five grandchildren. A memorial to celebrate his life and accomplishments is planned for May 2021 at Fort Ligonier. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at fortligonier.org/donate.
