After being canceled last year as a result of COVID restrictions, the Memorial Day parade in downtown Butler will return this year.
It’s not going to be the traditional parade that people are used to seeing because all the bands have already canceled,” Director of Butler County Veteran Services John Cyprian said. “At least we have the permit, so we look forward to seeing people who want to pay their respects to veterans.”
Although the original direction of the parade was south to north to end in North Side Cemetery, the parade switched directions to end at Diamond Park in 2019 and that direction will continue this year. This parade honors the legacy of those who have lost their lives on the battlefield to protect our country.
This year Memorial Day is May 31st with the parade expected to begin shortly before 10:30 a.m.
