Russell D. “Russ” Pennington, 90, of Chicora, passed away peacefully, Saturday afternoon, August 31, 2024 at Sugarcreek Rest.
Russell was born in Chicora on October 12, 1933. He was the son of the late Byron “B.L.” and Olive Lewis Pennington.
He was a graduate of East Brady High School and had been employed by Armco in Butler for more than 30 years. Russ was an avid golfer and was a member of several different golf leagues. He enjoyed gardening, Pittsburgh sports, and visiting with his friends at Walmart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Johns Pennington.
Surviving are three children, Darla D. Anthony and her husband, Bryce, Dana L. Flick and her husband, Jamie, and Todd R. Pennington, all of Butler; five grandchildren, Jordan Anthony, Matthew Anthony, Sarah Brendlinger and her husband, Kyle and Emily Gove and her husband, Nathan, and Carissa Pennington; three great grandchildren, Evelina, Addley, and Camri, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Earl Pennington; and two sisters, Gladys Younkins and Darlene Umbaugh.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 2-4 p.m. Thursday. A memorial service will follow from the funeral home at 4 p.m. with Pastor John Corbett, Three Rivers Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Chicora.
