How does the cost of buying auto insurance in Pennsylvania compare to other states?
A recent study from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners says we’re below average, which in this case, is good.
“There are more than 200 insurers writing auto coverage in Pennsylvania and because of that, the rates here are well-below the national average,” Ron Ruman, spokesman for the PA Insurance Departments, said.
According to Ruman, says a good way for consumers to find the best auto insurance rate is to shop around.
“You don’t have to stay with an insurer just because you’ve been with them for awhile,” he said. “It’s important to have the coverage that you need, but by shopping around, you may be able to find that coverage at a better price.”
Ruman says not only is Pennsylvania competitive on a national level, but a regional one as well, with premiums about 16 percent below the six states which border the commonwealth.
