Ernestine “Ernie” Marie Shotts, 78, went to be with the Lord January 27, 2018. She passed away peacefully at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pgh., PA.
She was born September 25, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Ernest and Marie Thurner Kapp.
A long time resident of Sunnyview home in Butler, Pa. Ernestine attended church services offered at Sunnyview through Hope House Ministries, Rev’s. Dennis and Susan Protzman. Ernestine originally initiated the Hope House weekly bible studies 8 years ago. She loved to draw close to the Lord through these meetings, by reading bible scriptures, and by watching various teachings on Christian television. She was well known by the residents and staff as a strong woman of faith who shared the love of Jesus and prayed for many people. Ernestine was very influential in the Christian community at Sunnyview as well as being recognized and celebrated as a “peer leader” there as a voice for the residents. Ernestine formerly did housekeeping for many prominent households in the Butler area and also worked for Logan Candy Company. Ernie had a love for birds and over the years rescued many parrots and exotics. She also trained and showed horses and enjoyed dancing.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Marie Snyder of Renfrew, PA, her son Hubert “Ace” Asa Shotts II of Butler, two step sons Brett & Michael Shotts of Florida, A half-brother Hans Kapp in Switzerland, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Norma Jean McCormick.
