James L. Brewster, 91, of Butler, PA, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler, PA.
He was born November 6, 1927 in Butler, PA, the son of the late Roland J. Brewster and Nona L. (Yockey) Brewster.
James was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He Graduated in June 1945 from Butler High School and joined the Navy, then later attended Butler Business College. He was a member of Butler Cubs in the late forties and taught Sunday school at Grace Lutheran Church. James worked at Peoples Telephone before working 35 years at Butler Armco. He was also a member of Victory Lodge 694 and held offices in the York Rite and was past president of Butler Mora Club and a member of the YMCA.
Surviving are his daughter, Nancy and Don Christy of Butler, 2 sons, Drew Brewster of Washington and Renwick and Dr. Xintian Ming Brewster of NJ, grandson, Major Cullen and Dr. Denise Brewster, 3 granddaughters, Heidi Geroff of Butler, Lia Brewster of Florida, Carly Brewster of Washington, great grandchildren, Robert Slater of Butler and Lumi Brewster of Boston, and his companion, Beryl Tait of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Miriam (Jones) Brewster, second wife, Doris (Burtner) Brewster, and a brother, Wendell Brewster.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Wednesday, February 20th from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 11 AM with Aaron minister Robert Niggel of St. Marks Evangelical Church officiating.
Interment in the Butler County Memorial Park, Butler, PA.
