State police seized $2 million worth of suspected heroin in what could be one of the largest drug busts on the Pennsylvania Turnpike to date.
On Wednesday night, police pulled over a white Suburban passing through Somerset while heading to Pittsburgh from Philadelphia.
Troopers reportedly found a hidden compartment in the back of the vehicle which was housing 4,000 bricks of heroin, according to our news partners at WPXI-TV. Authorities say that equates to 200,000 stamp bags of heroin. The driver- and the alleged drug runner- was a woman named Anna Gonzalez. She’s now in the Somerset County Jail.
Police say the turnpike is the major thoroughfare between three main cities feeding drugs into our region: Philadelphia, New York and Chicago.
