A Pittsburgh man has been arrested for allegedly impersonating a West Penn Power employee in Clinton Township.
According to the State Police in Butler, 43-year-old Michael Klaus went to a home on Cannon Hill Road back in mid-April and claimed to work for West Penn.
He allegedly told the resident that he needed to install an electric meter at the home.
It turns out the home is actually powered by Central Electric, who was no longer able to monitor the meter and contacted the homeowner.
Klaus is now facing theft charges. It’s unclear why he installed the meter or if he targeted any other homes in the area.
