High School Sports:
WPIAL Baseball Playoffs:
–Bethel Park defeated Seneca Valley 3-2 in 10-innings Tuesday in the 6A quarterfinals.
–North Allegheny defeated Butler 4-2 and Pine-Richland defeated Norwin 2-1 in the other 6A quarterfinal games. N.A. will get Penn Trafford today in the semifinals. Pine-Richland gets Bethel Park.
–Mars defeated West Allegheny 4-3 in 11-innings, as the Planets eliminated the 5A number one seed. Mars improved to 12-8 and will get 13-7 Shaler today at Pullman Park in the WPIAL semifinals. Game time is 4pm.
–In the 3A semifinals today, Freeport (14-5) will meet Steel Valley (11-8) at Fox Chapel high school beginning at 1:30pm.
WPIAL Softball Playoffs:
–The Knoch Girls (17-1) will face Elizabeth Forward (15-3) in the 4A semifinals today. Game time is 3pm at Gateway high school.
–Seneca Valley (15-5) will meet Hempfield (14-6) in WPIAL 6A semifinals today at Fox Chapel. Game time is 3pm. That game will be followed by North Allegheny and Norwin at 5pm.
District-9 Baseball Playoffs:
–Karns City defeated Redbank Valley 17-2 in three innings in the 2A quarterfinals at Pullman Park. Cameron Blair led the Gremlins by driving in four runs. He went 3-for-3 with a double, triple and scored twice.
–Moniteau defeated Cranberry 9-3. Hunter Fitzingo led the Warriors with three hits a run scored and an RBI.
Karns City and Moniteau will meet in the District-9 semifinals Thursday at Pullman Park. Game time is 6pm.
District-9 Softball Playoffs:
–AC Valley defeated Elk County Christian 7-2 in the 1A quarterfinals. Cami McNany drove in two and Emily Wetzel scored three times to lead the Falcons. AC Valley will meet Clarion Thursday in the semifinals.
District-10 Baseball Playoffs:
–Slippery Rock defeated Corry 9-2.
–General McLaine defeated Grove City 7-4 in the 4A quarterfinals.
