Following last week’s mass shooting in Virginia Beach, the head of a gun violence prevention group is reminding Pennsylvania lawmakers that there’s still a great deal to be done.
CeaseFirePA Executive Director Shira Goodman reminded lawmakers that like the Virginia Beach municipal building shooting which left a dozen people dead, there have been similar incidents in Pennsylvania.
“Pennsylvania is not immune from the problems we’re seeing across the country,” Goodman said.
A sewage enforcement officer was killed in a shooting at the municipal building in Paradise Township, Monroe County last November, while three people were shot dead when a gunman opened fire at a municipal meeting in Ross Township, Monroe County in August 2013.
Goodman says there are good gun bills which passed out of committee last session but were not taken up on the floor.
