You might have noticed something unusual over the weekend in Cranberry Township. A herd of goats were brought into a community park to help control the landscaping.
The township contracted with Allegheny GoatScape to bring the animals in. Spectators showed up on Saturday afternoon to watch the goats- and one donkey- chow down on weeds in North Boundary Park.
Officials said the animals could more easily clear the park vegetation on the steep slopes that are hard to mow mechanically- especially with how wet it’s been.
Allegheny GoatScape’s herd has previously cleared areas in Pittsburgh’s Frick Park, Homestead, Latrobe, South Side Park and CMU.
