The City of Butler will pay to have repairs made to the elevator in the Tier Parking Garage on West Cunningham Street.
At a Butler City Council meeting on Tuesday, council accepted a bid from the Otis Elevator Company in the amount of nearly $62,000 for the replacement of a hydraulic cylinder.
City Parking Manager Jim Chiprean was notified of a problem with the elevator in early July and it has been closed since then.
According to Chiprean, only one bid was received for the repair work and the part that failed was over 20 years old. The estimated amount of time to order, receive, and install a new cylinder is two to three months.
