If you’re planning to head out on a waterway today to enjoy the last of the holiday weekend, officials are urging you to be safe.
Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission Spokesperson Mike Parker reminds boaters they still need to abide by the same rules they’ve followed all summer long.
“This is sort of the last hurrah- we just want to remind people they still need to abide by the rules,” Parker said.
Seven boating-related fatalities occurred in the state between June and mid-August.
“We certainly hope not to add to that number over Labor Day weekend,” he said.
Waterways conservation officers will be out this weekend looking to enforce the rules to keep the waterways safe.
