A recent event to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport also resulted in financial assistance for local student pilots.
As part of the birthday celebration last month, an evening cocktail party included numerous basket raffles, bidding on silent auction items, and a live auction of donated experiences.
Through these efforts, nearly $22,000 was added to the newly created Future of Flight Scholarship Fund. The fund was established last year by the Airport Authority to offer assistance with flight training expenses for pilots in training at one of the airport’s two flight schools.
The annual application process will open to students soon with awards to be made in January. Visit the airport’s website for more information about the scholarship fund or souvenirs commemorating the ongoing 90th anniversary celebration.
