A recent survey by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission has revealed a small decline in the number of households going without heat-related utility service.
The annual Cold Weather Survey showed that as of December 1st, just over 18,000 households across the state entered the winter season either without service or using an unsafe heating source.
This reflects a 1% decrease compared to last year’s figure as well as a 5% decline over the survey results from two years ago. This survey helps the PUC judge the effectiveness of outreach about assistance.
Residents experiencing financial difficulties and struggling to stay warm this winter are encouraged to contact their utilities or the PUC for more information about available assistance programs.
