Butler City Council is planning to save a significant amount of money on the city’s electricity bill through a switch to LED lights.
Pending solicitor approval of a final agreement, council has accepted a proposal from Hercules LED to retrofit the lights at the Butler City Building and the Public Safety Building.
Through the Energy Efficiency Program and rebates from the power company, a representative of the Wexford office of Hercules estimated that the city could save 60% on their electric costs compared to now.
This deal does not require any money to be paid by the city up front for the work to replace the fixtures and bulbs. Rather, the company is paid through the difference in the savings the city would realize through the switch. The city did receive another proposal for the work that was more expensive.
The lights would last 15 to 32 years depending on how much they are used and the agreement includes a five year warranty.
