About $12,000 was raised for adult literacy last weekend.
250 people attended the fourth annual ‘Luncheon for Literacy’ on Sunday on the main campus of Butler County Community College.
Each of the 36 tables at the luncheon was sponsored by a business or community member, and then decorated to resemble the theme of a book. Attendees then voted on their favorite table.
The event benefited BC3’s Adult Literacy Program, which has provided free instruction in basic reading, writing and math skills for adults, as well as GED preparation and workforce development for nearly 500 students over the past 11 years.
