Board members in the South Butler School District have made a change to the district’s grading scale that will take effect this fall.
A motion was approved to revise the grading system for grades kindergarten through 12 to a scale that is more similar to college as well as the majority of districts across the region.
Currently, students receive an “A grade” if their score is between 92 and 100%. The new scale moves the dividing line to 90% for an A, 80% for a B, and 70% for a C. Past grades will not be retroactively changed.
Administrators recommended this change level the playing field for South Butler students when it comes to college admission and scholarship opportunities.
