The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed two players from the XFL. They signed defensive tackle Cavon Walker, who led the XFL with 4-1/2 sacks in five games with the New York Guardians. He was a converted linebacker from the University of Maryland. They also signed offensive lineman Jarron Jones, who also played for the Guardians. He is a converted defensive lineman from Notre Dame.
NBC will begin airing “Sunday Night Football” repeats Sunday. Two Steelers games will be shown.
Carolina has officially agreed to a three-year deal with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. The contract is worth $63 million. He will replace the first pick in the 2011 draft – Cam Newton, who was released this week.
Aliquippa native Dravon Askew-Henry is the another player to move from the XFL to the NFL. Askew-Henry has agreed to a two-year contract with the New York Giants.
He had been playing for the New York Guardians when the XFL season was suspended. Askew-Henry started a school-record 51 games for West Virginia. Je was not drafted, but went on to spend time with Jacksonville and New England. The 24-year old nephew of former Pitt and NFL star Darrelle Revis, spent time in last year’s training camp with the Steelers.
