With the start of school right around the corner, the Butler Radio Network is beginning our “Back to School” series where we’ll highlight districts from all across the county as they gear up to welcome students back.
The Butler Area School District released a 57-page reopening plan nearly two weeks ago. And even still, Superintendent Dr. Brian White says the district is prepared to make changes as the year goes on.
“We don’t have perfect solutions to everything,” White said. “Ultimately I think our kids will be very resilient no matter what happens. But, we’re all going to have to be flexible, because how we start may not be how we finish.”
White also says the state Department of Education has provided more guidelines on what to do if a COVID-19 case is confirmed in a school.
“If there is one positive case within a 14 day period, the school does not close down,” White said. “We would clean the areas where those students spent time.”
“Public health officials, not the school district, would then get in touch people who came into direct contact with that student and have them quarantine.”
Butler’s first day of school is September 1st.
