PennDOT officials are touting the success of roundabouts and their role in making roads safer.
A new study released showed that crashes decreased overall at 22 new roundabouts that were previously stop or controlled signal.
Among the findings, included that suspected serious injuries were reduced by 78 percent and that fatalities went down by 100 percent.
PennDOT also says that in addition to making roads safer, roundabouts help improve traffic flow. They say the roundabout is an innovation that has become standard practice among transportation officials.
